Does my subscription autorenew?

Yes, your subscription will autorenew if you do not cancel it at least 24h before the end of the billing cycle. We'll send you a reminder about the upcoming end of billing cycle.

How much "money" can I create within a coin?

There is no limit to how much value you can create within a coin system.

The Free and Basic plan limit the number of wallets you can have in a coin system, but even these plans don't limit the amount of value you generate in the coin.

Can I have multiple coins?

Yes, you can have multiple coins.
Each plan is good for one coin. You can have multiple coins on different plans. For example, you can have a coin on the free model because you are just testing a concept and you can have your festival coin that on the Premium plan. The coins are completely independent from each other.

Do I need a mobile data or WiFi connection to use the app?

Yes, in order to use the app, you need to have a data connection.

What happens to my data? Who has access to what?

Logging into the app is done through the services of Apple or Google. Neither Apple nor Google has access to the usage of the app.

The username for your account is stored in the backend DB. This is usually an email address for a Google account and either an email address, a relay email address or a unique Apple-generated alphanumeric ID for Apple users.

All transactions are publicly stored in the Tezos Blockchain with the public wallet ID. These entries remain even after the action has ended. Such an entry looks like this:

What technology is ecoo built on?

ecoo was built on Tezos, a decentralized blockchain network designed to provide the upgradeability, security, and continuity required for long-term, high-value applications. The protocol's on-chain upgrade process, proof-of-stake (PoS) consensus algorithm, and ability to facilitate formal verification make Tezos an ideal long-term solution for digital transactions, including smart contracts and digital securities. Tezos is open-source, fully decentralized, and can be used by companies and individuals worldwide.

My business has several cash registers - how can I accept payments with ecoo?

  1. You can access the menu via the home screen. Under "Accounts" you will find the receiver QR code.
  2. Print the displayed QR code.
  3. Present this code to your customers, who can now scan this code, enter the amount and make the transfer.
  4. After successful payment, a receipt is displayed in the customer's app.
  5. To be able to verify the payment on your part, check the following features on the receipt: Time stamp, amount and the animated background.

Do I need a smartphone at every checkout?

As a business owner, you need a mobile phone to open the business account and to be able to exchange the credit balance into Swiss francs.

For security reasons, it is only possible to manage the account on a smartphone.

If you have multiple cash registers, you can print out a recipient QR code and present it to the customer to accept payments (see question below).

You can create the recipient QR code yourself using a QR generator. To do this, go to the website, for example. Make sure that you have selected "Text" as the content of the QR code. In the text box, enter your account ID in this format: {"id": "VY863659"}, replacing VY863659 with your account ID. After that, you can customize the colors and size as you wish and download the generated image.

How can I exchange the credit balance into fiat currency?

Exchanging coins for fiat currency through the app is only possible for shops.

  1. Go to "Redeem" on the home screen
  2. [Optionally] Top the total balance at the top and edit it to a smaller amount, in case you don't want to send in all your coins.
  3. Enter your information in the form
  4. Click the "Submit" button at the bottom of the form

Your coins and cashout request was sent to the coin operator. They will review this and make a direct transfer to your bank account in the next billing cycle.

How can I request an amount from a customer?

Tap on "Collect" in the home screen and enter the desired amount. If a customer only has a paper voucher, tap on "Scan voucher" to scan the customer's voucher.

How can I request an amount from another participant?

Follow these steps:

  1. Tap the "Request" button on the home screen.
  2. Enter the desired amount.
  3. Show the generated QR code to your counterpart to scan.

Hint: If you are actually talking to your friend on the phone, and they can't scan your code, they can send you coins by clicking on the "Pay" button in the homescreen, then clicking on the "Enter manually" on the next screen, and entering the amount and your wallet ID in the form.

Either way, you'll find the completed transaction in the list at the bottom of the homescreen.

Each Coin Operator can determine in which directions transactions are allowed. It could be that shop-to-shop transactions, for example, are not allowed. An informational tip is displayed to the user, should a transaction not be allowed because of the coin settings.

How do I pay with the app in the store?

  1. On the Home screen, tap Numbers.
  2. Scan the QR code of the trade.
  3. Review the transaction details and tap "Confirm".
  4. If the code does not contain the amount, or if it is incorrect, adjust the amount manually.
  5. After successful payment, a receipt is displayed in the app.
  6. You will see the successful transaction on your home screen under "History".

How do I get the credit balance in my wallet?

Depending on the Coin, you can buy more Coins from the provider or you receive the Coins directly from the provider. Some Coin Shops may ask for your Wallet ID and send the bought balance directly to your wallet. In other shops, of if you get the Coins from a provider, you'll receive a QR code or link.

Scan your personal QR code with your Android or iOS camera, or click on the link on your smartphone. You will be linked directly to the Google Playstore or Apple Store where you can download and install the ecoo app for free. Go through the steps in the app until you have successfully created an account. The credit from the code/link will automatically be added to your wallet.

If your camera app cannot scan QR codes, download the app ecoo from the app store for free (Google Playstore or Apple Store), then scan the QR code on the voucher with the ecoo app. Go through the steps in the app until you have successfully created an account with the corresponding credit. Once the amount has been transferred to the app, the QR code on the voucher cannot be used any further.

If you already have the app and an account, just scan the QR Code with your smartphone camera or click on the link, and the app will walk you through adding the credit to your wallet.

I have a new smartphone. What should I do?

Reinstall the app and log in again. Your accounts will be automatically transferred to your smartphone.

I installed the app. Now what?

  1. The first thing you need to do is sign in. You can use your Apple or Google account to do this. (Neither Apple nor Google have access to your data).
  2. Scan the voucher
  3. Confirm the creation of the new account with the received credit.
  4. Make sure you have a pin, fingerprint or face scan and auto lock screen set up on your phone, otherwise you won’t be able to use the app for security reasons.

Where can I download the app?

Scan your personal QR code on the voucher with your Android or iOS camera. You will be linked directly to Google Playstore or Apple Store where you can download and install the app.
