  • Where can I download the app?

    Scan your personal QR code on the voucher with your Android or iOS camera. You will be linked directly to Google Playstore or Apple Store where you can download and install the app.

  • I installed the app. What now?
      • The first thing you need to do is sign in. You can use your Apple or Google account to do this. (Neither Apple nor Google have access to your data).
      • Scan the voucher
      • Confirm the creation of the new account with the received credit.

      Make sure you have a pin, fingerprint or face scan and auto lock screen set up on your phone, otherwise you won’t be able to use the app for security reasons.

  • Can I exchange my credit balance with other participants?

    Yes, the credit balance or a part of it can be transferred to all participants.

  • I have a new smartphone. What should I do?

    Reinstall the app and log in again. Your accounts will be automatically transferred to your smartphone.

Customers (App Users)

  • How do I get the credit balance on the app?

    Scan your personal QR code on the voucher with your Android or iOS camera. You will be linked directly to the Google Playstore or Apple Store where you can download and install the app for free. Go through the steps in the app until you have successfully created an account with the corresponding credit.

    If your camera app cannot scan QR codes, download the app ecoo from the app store for free (Google Playstore or Apple Store).

    Scan the QR code on the voucher with the ecoo app. Go through the steps in the app until you have successfully created an account with the corresponding credit. Once the amount has been transferred to the app, the QR code on the voucher cannot be used any further.

  • What are the different features in the app?

    Homescreen

    • Payments – Here you can trigger payments, either by scanning a QR code or by manually entering the amount and the recipient, e.g. AB123456.
    • Top up credit balance – Here you can scan a voucher and load it onto your account.
    • Claim – Here you can claim (invoice) an amount from another participating person.

    Menu

    • Accounts – Here you have an overview of all your accounts. Tap on an account to switch to its context and trigger or receive payments from there.
    • Add account – Here you can add a new account, for example if you want to add a business account in addition to your customer account.
    • Settings – In addition, you will find links to the Privacy Policy, this FAQ, and the Tezos Foundation. You can also recover an account here.
  • How do I pay with the app in the store?
    • On the Home screen, tap Numbers.
    • Scan the QR code of the trade.
    • Review the transaction details and tap “Confirm”.
    • If the code does not contain the amount, or if it is incorrect, adjust the amount manually.
    • After successful payment, a receipt is displayed in the app.
    • You will see the successful transaction on your home screen under “History”.
  • How do I pay without an app, but only with the voucher in the store?
    • Present the voucher with the QR code when making a purchase or obtaining a service in the store.
    • In the store, your code will be scanned.
    • If the amount used is less than the total amount, the remaining credit remains on the voucher, so you can use it again until the credit balance is used up!

    Please note that if the voucher has already been transferred to an account in the app, it can only be used via the app.

  • Can I also debit partial amounts from my credit balance?

    Yes, payments of partial amounts are possible.

  • How can I request an amount from another participant?
    • Tap the “Request” button on the home screen.
    • Enter the desired amount.
    • Show the generated QR code to your counterpart to scan.

    If you do not have the possibility to scan the codes on-site, you can enter the recipient e.g. AB123456 manually. You can find the recipient on the home screen or in the requested invoice.

  • What happens to the remaining credit balance at the end of the campaign?

    At the end of the campaign, the voucher loses its value.

  • I have children without smartphones. How can they claim their credit balances?

    For example, you can transfer multiple vouchers to a single account as a family.

    To do this, scan the voucher with the camera app and confirm the top-up to the existing account. Or select the “Top up credit” option on the home screen and scan the voucher.

    Alternatively, you can also use the vouchers in paper form.

  • What are the different features in the app?

    Homescreen

    • Cashier – Here you can invoice your customers. Enter the desired amount and let the customer scan the generated QR code. The customer confirms the transaction. You can see the successful transaction on the home screen under “History”.
    • Send – Here you can transfer an amount to another involved person or involved business. Scan the offered QR code (invoice) or enter the information manually.
    • Redeem – Here you can exchange your credit for Swiss francs. To do so, enter and confirm your account information.

  • How can I request an amount from a customer?

    Tap on “Collect” in the home screen and enter the desired amount. If a customer only has a paper voucher, tap on “Scan voucher” to scan the customer’s voucher.

  • How can I exchange the credit balance into Swiss francs?

    Go to “Redeem” on the home screen, then enter and confirm your account information.

    The withdrawal requests are reviewed by the provider and the transfers are made in the next withdrawal cycle.

  • What happens to the remaining credit balance at the end of the campaign?

    At the end of the campaign, your credit balance will lose its value. You can only exchange into Swiss francs until the end of the campaign.

  • Do I need a smartphone at every checkout?

    As a business owner, you need a mobile phone to open the business account and to be able to exchange the credit balance into Swiss francs.

    For security reasons, it is only possible to manage the account on a smartphone.

    If you have multiple cash registers, you can print out a recipient QR code and present it to the customer to accept payments (see question below).

    You can create the recipient QR code yourself using a QR generator. To do this, go to the website https://www.qrcode-monkey.com/de/#text, for example. Make sure that you have selected “Text” as the content of the QR code. In the text box, enter your account ID in this format: {“id”: “VY863659”}, replacing VY863659 with your account ID. After that, you can customize the colors and size as you wish and download the generated image.

  • My business has several cash registers - how can I accept payments with ecoo?
    • You can access the menu via the home screen. Under “Accounts” you will find the receiver QR code.
    • Print the displayed QR code.
    • Present this code to your customers, who can now scan this code, enter the amount and make the transfer.
    • After successful payment, a receipt is displayed in the customer’s app.
    • To be able to verify the payment on your part, check the following features on the receipt: Time stamp, amount and the animated background.

Technical questions

  • What technology is ecoo built on?

    ecoo was built on Tezos, a decentralized blockchain network designed to provide the upgradeability, security, and continuity required for long-term, high-value applications. The protocol’s on-chain upgrade process, proof-of-stake (PoS) consensus algorithm, and ability to facilitate formal verification make Tezos an ideal long-term solution for digital transactions, including smart contracts and digital securities. Tezos is open-source, fully decentralized, and can be used by companies and individuals worldwide.

  • What happens to my data? Who has access to what?

    No personal data is stored.

    Logging into the app is done through the services of Apple or Google. Neither Apple nor Google has access to the usage of the app.

    All transactions are publicly stored in the Tezos Blockchain with the public wallet ID. These entries remain even after the action has ended. Such an entry looks like this:

  • What if I don't have a data connection?

    To use the app, you need a data connection.

  • Who developed the app?

    The app was developed by DU DA – Data & CommTech by Farner und Papers AG.

  • I have to log in with my Apple or Google account - what do these providers see of my data?

    Neither Apple nor Google see the transactions that are made within the app.
